bridal gown : I called Rush's, and spoke with a sales clerk who was not informed as to the association (if any) of the Shop with the aforementioned internet company, but took my number and told us that the owner of the store would get back to us on that. Surely enough, the next morning, bright and early, the owner of the store called and confirmed the legitimacy of the Internet Bridal Gown Ordering Center.With respect to your lack of luck with the Better Business Bureau, I too called them, again with very different results. I had found out that the Rush's Bridal Shop has been in operation since 1948 (sure sounds like one of the oldest in the United States!), it's been a member of the BBB since 1989, it's a member in good standing, with good customer service and which abides by the rules and regulations of the BBB. I also learned the name of the owner, which confirmed that the man who I spoke to was indeed the owner of the store. (And by the way, Rush's is also listed in bridal magazines) I find it rather unusual, that you, a professional, had such difficulties locating this information, while I, an amateur, got it all in less than 24
bridal gown : I looked at a page for the Internet Bridal Gown Ordering Center just yesterday, before reading this post, and I noticed that what had been said by the two posts I'd read formerly was true - there was *no mention* of where the center, or Rush's, were located. I looked very carefully, too, because it's a pet peeve of mine when businesses neglect to put their rw location on their web pages. Now, I'm guessing that one of two things happened - either the page was updated and corrected between the time I (and Lisa, and the original bride who saw & asked about it) viewed it and the time Aneta viewed it, OR the page which is causing all the confusion is NOT THE SAME as the one that Aneta viewed.I know that I accessed the IBGOC information *through* some other wedding directory online. Perhaps this is also where the first bride saw it, and she posted *that* URL, which is the one Lisa checked out - and maybe this is a different page on that wedding server, not a link back to IBGOC's own page, and omits the information which the IBGOC's own home page contains - i.e. that they're in Minnesota.
bridal gown : I don't recall if the page I saw listed telephone or fax number. Perhaps Lisa just didn't think of checking out the area code, if it did. However, as a bride and not a professional, I still think that giving no physical address for their company (on at least one page or at one time) and no physical address or phone number for their supposed "reference" is sloppy at best - and I have far too many things to do right now than try to play telephone tag with a supposedly professional firm! (I *do* appreciate very much that you checked this out, Aneta, and even more that you took the time to post the information, and this is NOT intended to be a flame in any sense of the word). As for the implication that Lisa may have been intentionally slamming the competition, well [shrug]... I don't know anyone in this newsgroup personally, and yeah, some of you are professionals who would be nuts not to try to look out for your business interests, but I've seen *very* *little* of that sort of thing in here. Most professionals surprise me with their willingness to suggest "do-it-yourself" alternatives to people tight on money, for example. [Me! Me!] It surprised me even more until I started to realize that you frequently seem to have to be a certain sort of person to work as a wedding consultant, and often that sort of person is (a) an incurable romantic, and (b) an idealist. :)
