Also, I have noticed that the workmanship could be better(some beading on my dress isn't quite symmetrical), but I couldn't beatthe price of the dress and I love the style.
bridal gowns : I am getting married on 2-6-99, and I was curious if anyone has had any luckwith finding a pretty gown in a larger size. I unfortunately can't remember anyemail addresses off the top of my head, but dejanews could probably find'em for you.As far as plus size dresses go, it depends on which plus size, I think. Iknow Ange d'Amour does up to size 60, and Alfred Angelo does some niceones up to size 24. Having a dress made is also something to consider,since shopping for wedding dresses is about nine thousand times asaggravating as shopping for other dresses. (It made me cry twice, and yellat salespeople three times, I think.) In any case, there's a faq out there for big folks clothing in the US, inCanada, the UK, and Europe. You can get to all of these from, and they are marked by whichcompanies sell what-- I suggest grabbing the one appropriate for yourcountry and then doing a text search for "wedding" in it. :)
bridal gowns : I found my dress in a consignment store, but I also was able to finddresses that I could try on at David's Bridal. I saw in a local bridal magazine that a shop is opening here in Atlantathat carriessample dresses in sizes 16-26+. I don't know the name of the store though.They said that they would have at least 30 gowns in the store at all times.My own dress was a size 16, from Bonny (I think the Essence by Ester line ).It looked great (I think! :) ).I did have to get some "squeeze you in"linguire, though, since they sized me teeny bit small, to avoid the extracharge you get when you go to an 18. Whatever you do, when you order the dress, get it sized for the size you arethen, not what you think you'll be at the wedding. You can always have ittaken it, but they are very hard to let out. And starvation diets right before the wedding are a very bad thing. Good luck on the losing weight!!I went to David's Bridal and had a great experience. I was able totry on gowns in my size and bought one at the second store I went to.If David's isn't near you, look in the phone book under bridal. Minehad lots of listings for stores with large sizes. Oddly enough thestores and gowns specifically designed for larger sizes were awful,designed to cover everything up instead of accenting your bestfeatures. I'd stay away from them if I were you.
bridal gowns : My fiancee would like to know if anyone has ever bought their wedding gown through a discounter called Discount Bridal Services based in Silver Spring, Maryland. There is an agent in our area who distributes the dresses for the firm and apparently there are agents all over the country who do the same. She is very careful about purchasing from these places since she has read horror stories about brides receiving the wrong dress, or size, or the companies skipping town after they've received payment. However, she could save several hundred dollars on her gown going this route. Here are the ups and downs of the research she's done so far on the company:Downs-The manufacturer of the gown has no record of sending dresses to this company (perhaps they are receiving them via transshipment, an illegal practice)-The local agent does not seem to have a permit or business license for selling the gowns (from her home) nor has she been registered with the Better Business Bureau-The agent suggested full payment up front in cash or cheque only.
bridal gowns : Ups-Discount Bridal Service is given a positive review in a book called "Bridal Bargains"-The references the agent left check out, having been satisfied with their gown and the agent's service (could be her friends?)-Would the agent skip town with the cash if she is running the business from her home? ie. would she just pack up, sell the house and leave town?-My fiancee has yet to check the BBB in Maryland for any complaints or problems with the company.If anyone has any information (good or bad) that they could share with my fiancee about this company via my e-mail address she would appreciate it.From: ()Subject: Re: Discount Bridal Gowns Newsgroups: Date: 1994-03-14 13:42:52 PST In article Mark G.
