bridal hairstyles : It's amazing how I ask for male opinions to show whether my hunch was rightor wrong, and I get flammed by women. A few flames have shown me thatthings get taken way out of content as soon as someone reads any commentthat disagrees with their own personal style. They either don't read itfully for a clear understanding, or they read way too much into things. Please see the flames below, and my comments to each: On Apr 29, 1996 23:39:02 in article <Re: Let's Stop All The Flames,Insults, and Bickering>, (Julie McK)' wrote: Juile, all I said was that I dislike short hair on women, and most men Iknow prefer long hair on women. And I still asked for the opinion of othermen in these newsgroups because I might be totally wrong. But your flamewas nowhere near as bad or off-base as the next one that was mailed to mepersonally: On Apr 29, 1996 19:11:31, 'Jack Wooster and/or Laurel Fosnaugh wrote: Well, I thought I made it clear that I was just expressing an opinion. Nooffense was intended. But yes, the general statement was that women withlonger hair ARE indeed more attractive to men. In general, most guys Iknow prefer long hair. Not at all. At no point did I suggest that or mean to imply that. Andtruth be known, most women I know (I have lots of plutonic female friends)tend to dress more for other women than for men or even fr themselves. This is something I do not even pretend to understand, by the way. If a woman wants to keep a "low maintenance haircut" because she's I think you're reading way too much into my comments. Again, all I'msaying is that I prefer long hair, and that in most cases, I dislike shorthair. And once again, I don't think a woman would style her hair for me oranyone else, and if she did, what would that say about her? It sure wouldnot display someone with the strength or confidence to be herself, which isfar more attractive than any hairstyle could be. Well, honestly I probably would find her somewhat less attractivephysically, but NO, I would not love her less. By the time you marrysomeone, it goes way beyond physical attraction. But when men a and womenfirst meet, there is a certain amount of superficial attractivenessinvolved that makes them take the time to get to know each other andeventually stop fretting over looks. Had we first met and she had shorthair, I might not have taken the time to find out how wonderful she isinside. No, that's not my intention. I was merely adding to a posting about bridalhairstyles, and expressed my opinion -- that I dislike short hair on women, and find it far less attractive than long hair. I'm sorry, but I guess Iequate short hair on women with big guts, bald spots, etc. on men. It justlooks unattractive to ME. Others may very well disagree, and I respectthat. It's just a matter of personal taste. By the way, Caren (my fiancee) and I have reached an agreement on thistopic. I have promised no beards or goatees (she hates both) as long asshe promises no short hair or perms. I hope that doesn't offend anyone.
bridal hairstyles : I am not from Michigan, but I have heard of places in other states whereyou can rent dresses or buy used dresses. Also, maybe you can look around for a less expensive seamstress, and tryto have him/her make the same green dress from the Chadwick's catalogfor everyone. I think you're overlooking one possibility that my clients often employ--the department stores. Go to the big ones; find a sale dress; and have the department store get the sizes you'll need. I can't believe the dresses that my clients have found for $100 or less. And, they will wear them again. Also, if you send the maids a swatch of the color of green dress you're considering (and tell them the length you'd prefer), there should be noproblem with them finding their own dresses. I've done many weddings like this. They turn out great and so do the pictures. Discount Bridal Service. They are a mail-order group whogets dresses straight from the manufacturers, all you have to do iscall a rep and ask them to look up the dress you want (from picturesin the wedding mags). They will give you the price, includingshipping... then you collect the money from your bridesmaids, or payfor them yourself and then collect later, send in a check and theirmeasurements, and VIOLA! dresses you like at a price you can afford...Try it, it worked for me! <g>PS. I don't have any connection to DBS, but was so impressed with theservice I got that I have to recommend them whole heartedly!"Conjugal Creations"Wedding DesignerSan Antonio, TexasAsk me about NACEC!It's a matter of preference ... how picky are you about the dresses beingthe exact same shade of green? Do you trust everyone to match a swatch? Anyway, IMHO, the photos will look better if each of your attendants feelsthat she looks her best. Allowing some individuality in their clothingmakes a big difference as far as that goes. I can't stand wedding partiesthat are all dressed in identical dresses with identical shoes andidentical jewelry and identical hairstyles and even the exact same brandand style of pantyhose fergodsakes. Looks too forced and artificial. bridal hairstyles : Ok. How/where do you find pictures of hairstyles? I have looked in severalhair magazines at the local bookstore - they had mostly short hair 'dos, some medium length - maybe one or two long ones and those were both loose.I didn't find any pictures of long hair put up. I looked in a fewbookstores for picture books of hair, but I only found a few books about aparticular model. I stopped at two ritzy hair salon/spas here in downtownPhiladelphia and asked if they had any picture books, sample albums -neither had any of long hair!!!-- hillary gorman...........Official Token "So that's 2 T-1s and a newsfeed....would you like clues with that?" for debugging your net or deworming your pet Net Access...The NSP for ISPs....The NOC that rocks around the clock.I found the picture of my hairstyle in a bridesmaid dress ad in a bridalmagazine. I also found that the books they had in the salon had too manyhairstyles for short or medium length hair. The ones for long hair were notmy style. I ended up ripping a few pages out of a magazine and the stylistdid a great job. Ironically, I loaned some magazines to my sisters so thatthey could find hairstyles, and they both individually picked the same styleas mine. bridal hairstyles : -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your OwnGo to a salon. I've looked at every major bridal mag, and it seemsthat they are oriented in the same way! The "up" styles that I do see inthose magazines, I'm told my hair is too long for those. The few picturesof women with long hair I see are generally those with their hair totallyloose and down. I'm looking for a half up, half down kind of style (if Iput ALL my hair on my head, I don't think I could move my head!). Just thefact that I can't find anything is making me nervous. I may just try toschedule a day to cut school (argh) and go to a salon, have my hair doneseveral times, and take photos.
