I think a hot glue gun or some tacky glue, some ribbon or pearls,etc, could turn ordinary comfy shoes into beautiful bridal shoes. And thisway, your wont pay an arm and a leg for a wide size. I totally understand, bythe way, cause I am going to try and find platform shoes to wear to thewedding. I am not a hippy, and I don't like platform shoes, but my groom is afoot taller than me, and we look really pathetic when we try to dance together. So, I am going to find some white platform shoes (more comfy I assume than 6inch spike heels) so I can seem taller, and decorate with stuff from the fabricstore. good luck, and remember, more than likely your shoes will be hidden bythe dress anyway.Katie (and John)Dec. 11, 1999That's a great idea, and one I will probably pursue! I had thought of buyinga pair of plain white pumps from a place like Easy Spirit, that has wideshoes, and then using a hot glue gun to make them more "bridal" - it couldwork! Finding nice looking wide shoes is such a headache - in everyday life,too! Thanks for the good suggestion!

I wore them once before the wedding and several times since.In any event, Nordstrom, Payless, Kinney, etc. -- any place that does carry areasonably large selection of shoes -- will probably carry some form ofDyeables as well as not-specifically-bridal white/ivory shoes. Try asking atthe stores where you normally buy shoes! :-)I had the same problem, but I did end up finding some at Payless. You had asked "who's looking at your toes?" and the answer would be"pretty much anyone because your shoes aren't opaque."thanks, i realize the implications of clear shoes. that wasn't mypoint. i guess i wasn't clear. haha. yes, if someone was *looking*,they would see your squished toes; however, with that huge gown, youtypically don't even see the bride's shoes. my point was that if youhave a large gown, and your shoes probably won't show, and you reallylove clear shoes, then why not wear them? i am making the assumptionhere that the bride's gown will cover the shoes and they won't be easilyvisible. my shoes won't show at all but that didn't stop me from buyingshoes i really like.Having worn manmade shoes, I cannot imagine finding a pair of clear shoes thatwould be at all more comfortable than virtually any other pair of shoes except,perhaps, a pair of six-inch stilletos with locks on the ankle straps.
