bridal stores : Just a personal observation - given feedback I have heard within the sizeacceptance community - I would be reluctant to do mail order thru Peggy Lutz -even tho the Juliet dresses are beautiful.I have heard several horror stories about her customer service - I do believeif you are close enough to go into her retail store you would probably do quitewell.I have the Love Your Peaches Ball skirt and the black sparkly top and it istruly beautiful - well worth the investment - don't know how it would work fora teen - or even what teen fashion is these days.Another thing you might try is to go to Sandie Sabo's website - she has somePeggy Lutz Closeout items - little slip dresses - that type of thing - that thekids appear to be going for - one of the things I have heard about orderingfrom Sandie is that she will work with you regarding measurements and thingslike that and your chances of being satisfied with your garment aresignificantly greater .218-233-9583 (Minnesota)Bridal Bargains. bridal stores : I want to wear either a simple tiara or headband (no veil), but am notsure if I can purchase one on line without knowing what it will looklike on my head. (It's not often I had the opportunity to wear atiara.) I have been having trouble finding places that sell them, except on the internet. Anyone have a good/bad online purchase of atiara experience? Also, can you recommend some web sites, I havechecked out a few, but I'm sure there are many more I haven't seen.I also need to get a guest book and pen, but I don't care for the bigtraditional ones I have found thus far. They fit like 500 names, and Iwill only have 130 people. To me it seems a waste of money and paper toget a big one. Has anyone found a nice simple guest book/pen that wasnot from a full blown wedding vendor? I would check out an art museum for a nice blank book. We found onethat has Klimt's "The Kiss" on it and it is just beautiful. It islined, too, which is nice, but it doesn't have a ton of spaces for namesso it won't look too ridiculous. I think Amazon or someplace like thatwould have them too.Sarah bridal stores : --== Sent via Deja.com ==-----Share what you know. Learn what you don't.---This isn't exactly in response to your question, but using a large guest book might work after all. My parents had just one guest book for the first few years of their marriage -- the guest book from the wedding was hauled out at all manner of their parties during their early years, and so it became a 'historical family document' recording gatherings at their apartment, their famous house warming party (complete with parade around the block!), family dinners, etc., etc. It's a really cool book - largely because all of the pages weren't used at just one event. If you're lookign for a smaller book anyway, how about trying a pretty notebook or 'diary' type book that opens easily and stays open well. It would atleast be smaller in width, and people might be insprired by the tall, fat space to write something more than "name, city, Best wishes!"Our only requirement for a guest book are that it matches with the custom designed pens we just ordered today! (From an idea shared on this newsgroup, I decided to order a bunch of simple, silvery grey stick pens with our insignia (BJ entwined) and the year in Roman numerals written in black.(That's the first favour, available by the guest book. The second favour is a dark green leather bookmark, with the insignia and the year in Roman numberals, vertical this time, in gold. Yes, they were pricey, but it doesn't seem so expensive when quoted in American dollars -- $3.65USd per person, incl taxes, TOTAL for both favours; it works out to under $2USd per favour, and we won't need to spend any money wrapping or making them pretty!) bridal stores : All the previous suggestions are fabulous... what we're doing instead of aguest book (since we will never get it out and read it over) is this: weare having our engagement picture framed with a thick matting around it, andhaving everyone sign the matting. This does *not* have to be expensive. For us it helped that our engagementshoot came with our wedding photo package. But, you can go have a niceportrait done of the two of you, frame it yourself, and have folks sign itwith gold/silver pens if the matting is black, and with multi-coloured onesif it's white (or whatever colour/ink combo you want).<<I also need to get a guest book and pen, but I don't care for the bigtraditional ones I have found thus far. For my daughter's wedding, I am getting a sheet of gilt transferand writing the bride's and groom's names and the wedding date on the cover incalligraphy. You can find lots of good ideas in a craft store for decoratingthe cover. We are setting this book out during the cocktail hour with a noteattached encouraging guests to use an entire page to write a note, draw apicture, etc. Best Wishes! Ithink they're really cool to have framed on your wall later. Mines inmy livingroom and almost always gets a comment. A few things to note though. 1) Make sure the mat area is large enough. We use at least an8" border and a 10" border if we are attending a large affair (225+). 2) Get good pens that will really stand out against a colorcoordinated matte. We often shoot the engagement photo in B&W and usesilver and gold pens from Staples. WARNING-Don't get the kind that canleak ! 3) You may want to cover the photo with a piece of clear mylarbefore it is matted. This can be removed later and will protect theimage from any doodling or mistakes. 4) A good easel that holds the image at a 45 is a big plus. It's pretty hard to write on a photo that is sitting straight up on aeasel. 5) Place the image near your sign in book if you are usingboth. We often remove it later and place it on one of the speakers ofthe DJ if it isn't blocking the view of anyone.
