plus size bridal : Just a personal observation - given feedback I have heard within the sizeacceptance community - I would be reluctant to do mail order thru Peggy Lutz -even tho the Juliet dresses are beautiful.I have heard several horror stories about her customer service - I do believeif you are close enough to go into her retail store you would probably do quitewell.I have the Love Your Peaches Ball skirt and the black sparkly top and it istruly beautiful - well worth the investment - don't know how it would work fora teen - or even what teen fashion is these days.Another thing you might try is to go to Sandie Sabo's website - she has somePeggy Lutz Closeout items - little slip dresses - that type of thing - that thekids appear to be going for - one of the things I have heard about orderingfrom Sandie is that she will work with you regarding measurements and thingslike that and your chances of being satisfied with your garment aresignificantly greater .218-233-9583 (Minnesota)Bridal Bargains. plus size bridal : Well, I've been out shopping 3 times, and all three came out feeling ugly, unhappy, and furious. I'm a size 16 and am dreadfully tired of thetreatment I"m getting at salons; at one point I was about to chuckeverything and open my own plus size bridal store, complete with intensivecustomer service training for all employees. But since that isn't happening (unless someone here wants to invest!!! -just kidding) I need to know if anyone out there has any references for adressmaker in the Northern NJ/NYC area? But just so that you know, there ARE nice bridal shop owners out there! The shop where I bought mydress (sorry, it's in MA) is wonderful! The owner is always busy, but will always make time to helpyou when you come in. And she seems to be very excited about every wedding she is involved in. Idon't know how she does it!Sarah--- Use the 'net to help you. Try entering "Wedding gowns plus size"into the search engine of your choice. It will give you websites for shopsthat specialize in or at least feature plus size gowns. Also, some of thedesigners' ads in the bridal mags tell you whether or not that designeroffers gowns in plus sizes. Don't give up! plus size bridal : I got my dress at David's Bridal in Freehold, NJ. I originally went tothe one in New Brunswick and they were so rude to me, I left. So, then Iwent to the one in Freehold and everyone was really, really helpfulthere. I am not a plus size, but I did notice that they had plus sizegowns and there were plus size women trying on gowns. I don't know ifthey are only helpful because it is a brand new store or if they justhave nice people working there, but I would give it a try. If you can'tget there, I would go to a local library and look at the past issues ofBrides magazine and Modern Bride magazine. I am not sure which "brand"magazine it is, but one of them always has a "section" of dressesspecifically made for plus size women (yes, they actually have plus sizemodels :-) ) And they always tell you what stores you can get them inand where they are located in which states. That may be helpful foryou! Good Luck :-)I am also a plus size woman. I bought my dress at Kennedy's House of Bridalsin Howell, NJ (off exit 91 on the GSP). Kennedy was wonderful, never making me feel anything other than beautiful. I had horrendous experiences at certain salons when shopping for my dress.I ended up with an Alfred Angelo dress. It is quite stunning. Hope thishelps. Good luck. plus size bridal : Just got my Roaman's catalog in the mail yesterday, and discovered they have started to carry a small selection of plus-size bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and bridal accessories. I have no idea about thequality of these items, but they looked nice, and didn't seem very expensive.Thought I'd pass along the information for anyone who might be interested.(If you want to get a free Roaman's catalog, you can request one from ) (I am in no way associated with Roaman's...I'm just another plus-size gal who knows how frustrating it can be to find a nice weddinggown. I really wish they had started carrying these things earlier, when I could have considered ordering from them!)I am also a plus size bride...though I have already gone through the weddingthing. Actually I found that Alfred Angelo carried the most variety in plenty ofsizes for plus sized women. If cost is an issue he may not work, but it is anoption.LeahIn article says...Chadwicks is a good one too...I dont konw about their gowns...but the MOB and bridesmaids and attendant dresses sizes range from childrens to size 26 and are reasonably priced. plus size bridal : I am getting married on 2-6-99, and I was curious if anyone has had any luckwith finding a pretty gown in a larger size. Though I am working on being in aquite smaller size by then, it can't hurt to find out what;s out there. Also--If anyone wants to be e-mail pen pals about losing weight before the big day,e-mail me! Thanks! There was someone who just posted to alt.wedding with the header "weight"who was wondering just that very thing. I unfortunately can't remember anyemail addresses off the top of my head, but dejanews could probably find'em for you.As far as plus size dresses go, it depends on which plus size, I think. Iknow Ange d'Amour does up to size 60, and Alfred Angelo does some niceones up to size 24. Having a dress made is also something to consider, since shopping for wedding dresses is about nine thousand times asaggravating as shopping for other dresses. (It made me cry twice, and yellat salespeople three times, I think.) In any case, there's a faq out there for big folks clothing in the US, inCanada, the UK, and Europe. You can get to all of these from, and they are marked by whichcompanies sell what-- I suggest grabbing the one appropriate for yourcountry and then doing a text search for "wedding" in it. :)
