wedding card : Hello everyone ... I've got another wedding protocol question here.....I'm a guest in an upcoming wedding (I'm actually a bridesmaid) and when Ibought the present for the happy couple the other day at Tiffany's, it camewith a note card. When asked, I said the card could go inside the gift. I hadwritten on it some nice wishes and signed my name.Now, here's the question: Do I look repetitive and make a mistake by now buyinga regular Hallmark wedding card, or does the notecard suffice? I'm concernedwith doing too much or not enough here. No need to get another card--and kudos for putting the card insidethe gift where there's no chance of it getting lost. At this point, youpass with flying colors if you now deliver the gift to the bride'shome, rather than taking it to the wedding ;-)I am not having notable success in trying to imagine a negative reactionto receiving two cards from the same person. Would your friend say "Iguess she didn't think we believed the first card, she clearly thinks wedon't trust her, let's never speak to her again"?
wedding card : I think it might depend on the card. I haven't seen the cards at Tiffany's,only other department stores, but the ones I've seen have been very smallbits of cardboard with the name of the store, etc., kind of like the littleones that come with floral deliveries. Yours sounds nicer than that, tho, andso you could probably get by just fine and not be thought rude. On the otherhand, it would be so much nicer to put a notecard on the front. I have aparticular fondness for cards with handwritten, affectionate notes that I canput in a scrapbook and thereby enjoy the sentiment permanently (even if Iwasn't overly fond of, say, the orange-and-green couch-side remote controlcaddy contained in the box). Besides, I can't imagine anyone thinking ill ofyou for any amount of affection you might shower on a bride :)Also...cards inside the boxes are helpful in gift identification after thefact, but since it is inside the box, that means the outside may well lookun-addressed. You might also end up with anxious mothers fearing the card islost, scouring the car, blaming the kids, caterers, etc. previous togift-opening.
wedding card : Yes, you look repetitive, unoriginal, and terribly conformist, but toa very low standard for social behavior; no, the notecard does notsuffice.Get out a sheet of nice writing paper and matching envelope -- yes,you can still buy this at stationers' and greeting card shops -- andwrite a short note to your friend telling her how very happy you arefor her, wishing her the best of marriages, and other appropriatesentiments. Do it with a nice pen, preferably a fountain pen, butdefinitely not a tacky stupid ballpoint that looks awful -- someJapanese pens make a very nice, dense, black line.(If you have trouble expressing yourself, come back and ask forsuggestions.)It seems to me that those tiny gift-enclosure cards basically justserve the purpose of an identifying tag -- on which the giver needonly write his/her name (plus optionally "Best wishes" or "Ho ho ho!"or "Love" or whatever else may be appropriate to the relationship andthe occasion). In the case of a pile of gifts from various people, aswith wedding gifts, they're also very practical and sensible -- asopposed to big cards in envelopes which are all too likely to getseparated or detached from the gift (either accidentally or on theassumption that they aren't the sole identifier attached to the gift).
wedding card : Looking for stamp to use on front of wedding card. Any ideas?CTMH carries a nice assortment of wedding stamps including some block stamps(solid background with etched image) with rings, a tuxedo jacket, etc.... and aset with a wedding cake, car with Just Married on the back.....even a set withchampagne flutes and candles. Do something similar on the envelopeand people just rave!Using my valentine stamps, then, I can send the Happy Couple an engagementcard and a wedding card, without having to have a huge collection of weddingstamps.Are you looking for something obviously "wedding-ish" or something a little more offbeat?For example, Rubber Trouble has a bunch of wedding-themed stamps, but I've often thought that our little "salt and pepper shakers" stamp would also make a cute wedding card or wedding shower card -- something about a matched set. :) And then, of course, there are many images of flowers, etc. that different companies sell that aren't specifically wedding-themed but would work nicely. I guess it depends on what you are looking for.
wedding card : The following case is a typical example of the cases that havebeen brought against Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan under section 295C,which can carry the death penalty upon conviction. In May 1992, Nasir Ahmad, an Ahmadi Muslim, had weddinginvitation cards printed for the wedding of his daughter. Thecards contained traditional Islamic terms and prayers. The ceremony wedding place on May 15, 1992. The following daythe head of the local Khatam e Nubawwat organisation, Mehr ShaukatAli, lodged a complaint against Nasir Ahmad and twelve others whose names appeared on the wedding card at the local police station. He alleged that the accused had committed an offense byprinting Islamic terms on the wedding cards. The offending termswere: Nahmadahu wa Nusalle ala Rasooli Kareem (we invoke blessings of God for our eminent Prophet) The local police registered a case against all thirteenpersons under Sections 298C and 295C. 298C carries up to threeyears imprisonment. Section 295C carries life imprisonment or the death penalty. All those whose names appeared on the weddding cards asinvitees were originally charged. These included a 9 month old infant, ShahSikander Bakht, and three non-Ahmadis.
