Thanks!--Posted via Talkway - Surf Usenet at home, on the road, and by email -- always at Talkway.Usually church decorations are fairly traditional - flowers etc... if you'rebeing married in a tradition church, you may not want to take away from anyarchitectural elements that are particularly beautiful with too muchdecorations. What does the church you are considering look like in terms ofexterior and interior architecture?We've opted for three flower arrangements, plus pew bows (not really big)made by my mom, and the church also has two unusual candelabra that we canuse if we want to.You could consider skipping them... Most churches are already somewhatdecorated with seasonal plants and such. The liturgy committee at ourparish had so many plants stuffed in the sanctuary that there wasn'troom for any additional floral arrangements! During the ceremony, thetwo of you should be the center of attention. At the reception, there'sa much greater need to "set a mood" and the guests spend more time inthe space, so if your budget is tight (whose isn't?), put the $$ andeffort into the reception decor.
wedding decorations : Hello there! My niece is going to marry a United States Marine thisJune. I am trying to find somewhere I can purchase military weddingdecorations. One item I specifically am looking for is a cake topwith the groom in a Marine Corps uniform. If anyone has any ideas Iwould be most grateful.It's best to make your own cake topper in this case. Go to a toy store and buy a military doll and a doll that resembles your niece. Then go to a craft's store that has cake decorating supplies and buy the base, an arch, etc. They're easy to make. As far as a theme, how about red, white, and blue bunting, and bunches of miniature American flags. They can even be put in the centerpieces--of red and white flowers and blue statice. I think it could be fun and unique. Just use your imagination and lots of it <g>! Youcould purchase or make banners with the traditional Double Happiness symbol orKanji characters appliqued on them symbolizing Love, Unity, Prosperity. For table decorations you might consider red tablecloths, with tall slendervases holding Spider Chrysanthemums & stems of Bittersweet for centerpieces.Fireworks are traditional after a Chinese wedding, but you might considerpurchasing sparklers in July if you're in an area that only sells them forIndependence Day and giving them out as favors.
wedding decorations : We went to a nice wedding a few months ago. They had bought disposable cameras and set one on each table at the reception. That way anyone could take pictures during the reception party. Then the bride had all these great casual photos of everyone.Does anyone know of a retail or wholesale supplier that I can purchase clear plexiglass or glass ball ornaments? I plan on embellishing them with our names and date of wedding and hanging them on a Christmas tree as favors for our guests at our Christmas time wedding. I might also be interested in jewel tone colors. I am looking for the most reasonable prices for these. Thanks for your response.I happened to see these today in Walmart -- $2.97 for 6 small glass balls. Kinda pricey. Hopefully you can find some that are cheaper.We would like ideas on how to decorate or distinguish our dance floor atour reception. We are renting a hall and we are very limited as todecorations. We are not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling. Wewould like to maybe put up a tent frame or some of the sort to make it moreprominent. If any one has any ideas or suggestions please let us know. Ourbudget for this alone is about $400-500.
wedding decorations : Wow, that is a pretty good budget for decorating. I am planning on usingballoons with helium and hang down some string from them. My site said Icouldn't tape/tack anything to the ceiling but balloons would be justfine. If I have enough time and balloons I will try making pillars forthe four corners to help outline the dance floor.How about renting tall pillars to set at each corner of the dance floor? Theycould be decorated very simply, or draped with fabric and have arrangementsplaced on top of them. I'm sure your budget is ample enough to cover this,although it may be hard to find a company that rents pillars. Another option isto use rented or borrowed fake or real ficus trees strung with white lights inthe same placement. I hope this helps.Try finding some catalogs for prom decorating. If you talk to someone atthe local high school, I'm sure they have a stack of them somewhere. Theysell everything. And even if you don't find exactly what you need, it'llgive you some interesting ideas.You might also check with your florist. The florist I'm using does all thatstuff, urns, pillars, little stone cherubs, archways, etc., etc.
