wedding favors : I *will* be giving away wedding favors. I know some are not too keen onhaving wedding favors but I really love what I'm giving away. When a localgardening store was going out of business, I brought a bunch of 2 inchterra cotta pots. I painted each one of them with different designsdepending on my creative abilty that day. Anything from flowers to fruitsto random designs. I was debating for a while what to put in them...didn'treally want candy or candles. Then I thought of a better idea. I broughtsome soil and planted each pot with Nasturtiums! I pick Nasturtiums b/cthey are basically fool proof, will grow in even neglected conditions andcome back annually. They are quite pretty and edible too! I thought thiswas such a neat idea, something that can be kept for a long time. Ithought planting a seed and watching it flower over time again and again issuch a good symbol of our future marriage. :-) If it's true that some will be left over I certainly don't mind b/c theyare so cute. It was almost a struggle to give them away! :-)

wedding favors : Hi everyone. I heard from my friend this morning that she is gettingmarried in early november. Its a very small wedding, just them andtheir witnesses, and they asked if i can make the favors for a smallreception, just the closeest friends and family, approximately 40people. I am struggling to try to find wedding favor ideas now. theyare doing it modestly, in fact itts like a potluck dinner thing, everyone coming brings a plate, but she wanted really nice favors, though it has to be inexpensive because thats what they can afford. Iappreciate any help that anyone could give me. Thanks so much...When my sisters got married we went to a dollar store and bought niceglass figurines such as swan candle holders or candy dishes. Then webought mints in bulk, neting and ribon at the fabric store and made mintsacks to put in the figurines. Generally one figurine went to a coupleso for 40 guests it would cost 20-30 dollars for the favours. Hope thisidea helpsGreetings! We used different kinds of bells for our wedding, mostlybecause we wanted something our guests could keep, and for the Joyful Noisethey made. Something we didn't think about until after the fact-they were"wedding bells"!

wedding favors : I've done some favors and never wanted to spend too much. One was a smallchipwood basket (sold in craft stores in bags of 12 or so) with nettingbags of potpourri that I bought at a dollar store. It only takes a bit ofpotpourri for each small basket and maybe a bit of lace or ribbon for thebasket.Another one that went over big (but this was for a June wedding) was tinyterracotta pots (the 1.5" size) decorated with lace around the rim. InsideI tucked a small plastic bag of potting soil (*really* cheap) and I madesmall pouches to hold two sweet pea seeds each (the seeds are big). Glue atoothpick onto the back of the pouch, and you've got a small stake forattaching it to the pot.A couple ideas:1. Buy flat candy bars with foil lining (like Hershey's, symphony),remove outer wrapper and rewrap with a personalized wrapper, in one oftheir colors. This can be decorated with their date, ribbon, littleflowers, an embossed stamped design, etc.2. This takes access to a scanner and a color printer. RewrapHershey's miniature candies in a label with a picture of the happycouple. (I saw this for sale in a wedding mag, they were selling eachlabel for $1 sans candy, doing this should only take on or two printedpages and a bag of candy for 40 guests)3. Make decoratively molded chocolates. It is fairly simple, and theycan be prestored for up to 3 months in a cold place. There are manydifferent molds available at craft stores, and you can buy the candychips a variety of colors or color white chocolate to match. If youwant to do this I have a bunch of tips I saved, email me for them.4. Make truffles, put them in a paper cup, and into a box or wrappedin tulle. I've seen a number of truffle recipes on line.5. Make roses or bells out of hershey's kisses. I have instructionsfor making these.6. Decorate votive candles with a ribbon and flowersRemember to store chocolate near/with something you wouldn't mindeating, since it picks up flavor/smells. And store it in a cool dryplace.Beverly's has a few basic wedding favors on their site

wedding favors : and go to DejaNews and look up in alt.wedding newsgroup "what weddingfavors do you still have" for some more ideas-- Hi FeaniX, I had the same *job* three years ago...here's what idid... 1: I collected pine cones ( I live in Maine ) and made pinecone wreaths pleated ribbon bottoms for the centerpieces on the tablesfor the reception.Ribbons in the same color as their theme. 2: I bought those small chip baskets that they sell in craftstores and places like WalMart-glued ribbons (see #1) around the top ofthe baskets, and over the handle, then glued on small white ribbon rosesat each side where the handle attached to the basket. 3: I then bought some tuiole (sp?? tulle) at WalMart, cut it insquares, filled some with candies, some with nuts etc. tied them closedwith ribbon and stuffed them into the baskets. 4: The wreathes and the baskets were for the quests--and when Ihad left over wreathes I decorated them in a Christmas theme and gavethem to the bride and gromm, and their families as a rememberance of thewedding.

wedding favors : I hope you may find some of these ideas helpful--and I can send you thepine cones if you need 'em. I know where i can get *tons*!Bombonieres are always nice......just a circle of tulle........maybe cutwith pinking shears.......3 0r 4 sugar coated almonds in thecentre...........then tied up with a silk ribbon bow...............NevinaPerth AustraliaThe Feanix wrote in article I am struggling to try to find wedding favor ideas The Feanix wrote:Hello, When we were planning our own tiny wedding (20 people), we found these little vases at a 1.00 store. They were about 4" high, and shaped like a hand, with flowers in it, it looks like a hand holding a flower. We had silk flowers in it with two little craft wedding bands joined together and sticking up out of the flowers, and finished with a bow made from the ribbon you can order that has the names and date of the wedding. One thing I wish I had heard of at the time is wedding bubbles. These days instead of throwing rice, people get inexpensive bubble soap and wands, and blow bubbles at the happy couple instead. I heard of one wedding where they gave out sunglasses as favors, so the pictures show everyone there wearing shades. My sister made some cute favors for a wedding. She mad a base of polymer clay, about an inch or so around, then made little fans out of pleated lace, glued them to the base, and finished with a little ribbon rose, and a bow. Another person I know made canvas needlepoint butterflies on magnets, and attached a little scroll to them as favors. They love going to peoples houses and seeing thier favors on the fridge. That one was pretty time consuming to do though, but it could be adapted for ready made silk butterflies, or maybe a single silk flower, with a bit of ribbon, or an inexpensive house shaped magnet with hearts and flowers details painted on it, thier names and the date. Hope this helps...Moon
