We thought about mentioning both parents instead but his parents are divorced, so we worded as best as we were able to. I think it sounds like it is coming fromthe parents and not you because of the "when THEY exchange vows" etc.If it was coming from you guys, it would be "when WE exchange vows".I think that is perfectly clear and that it is really nice wording.
wedding invitation wording : I would go with five o'clock in the evening instead of afternoon. Ihave always liked evening better for anything which I think of as"after work" hours (5 and on). I think we’re inviting people to the event which starts off a marriage - the wedding. However, the sample wordings in the invitation catalog all ask the invitees to the marriage. So you'd have "Dad and Mom Lastnameand Dad and Mom Lastname request the pleasure/honor..." **2. My fiancee and my father are Ph.Ds. I like the non-titledinvitations...seems a little more personal. The real kicker for me waswhen I saw an announcement in the local newspaper from "Attorney and Mrs.Soandso" announcing their daughter's engagement...like my dad should haveput "Plant Manager and Mrs. Hannah..." or Mike's Dad, when his sister gotmarried: "Insurance Agent and Mrs...."**3. Seems wrong to** me, but ...I put: "The honor of the presence of 'write guest's name here' isrequested to celebrate the marriage of My name and Fiance's name" I justliked the idea that we're asking them to come celebrate the event/start ofour marriage.-- Just when I thought I was winning the rat race...along came faster rats.I'm not sure how you would do this. If you don't want to be extremely formal you could just say John and Jane Doe (without the Mr. and Mrs.) but this conflicts with the Dr. thing you want to do.There is a lot of arguement over whether or not to use Dr. for people with PhD's. Personally in this case I would leave it out, though I include it on invitations. Unless your father or fiance really want it on there it would be easier to leave it out, and it is socially correct to do so. (If that matters to you)
