wedding poems : First time he kissed me, he but only kissedThe fingers of this hand wherewith I write;and ever since, it grew more clean and white,Slow to world-greetings, quick with its "Oh, list,"When the angels speak. A ring of amethystI could not wear here, plainer to my sight,Than that first kiss. The second passed in heightThe first, and sought the forehead, and half missed,Half falling on the hair. O beyond meed! That was the chrism of love, which love's own crown,With sanctifying sweetness, did preced. The third upon my lips was folded downIn perfect, purple state; since when, indeed,I have been proud and said, "My love, my own."I'm looking for a poem or some lines to put on our invitations.Does someone know an url or maybe has a poem or some lines of their own Iwould be very happy. I can't seem to find the right words to express ourlove.Anyone got any good wedding poems they would like to direct me to?? Mywedding is in a little over a month and I need some help...I'm getting married May 2000, we are have a civil wedding and I want mybrother to read a poem out at the ceremony.
wedding poems : It's not a poem, but it's awesome anyways. Look for "ButterflyKisses" by Bob Carlisle. It was sung at my sister's wedding and wenearly had to declare a flood warning for the extensive sobbing. It's a kind of poem, what we call 'concrete poetry', or 'poésieconcrète'. But your main point is right: it'd be real hard to read.Best -- Jim---------------------------------------- --------------------------------Let's go road block trippin' in the middle of the night up in Gainesville town There'll be blue lights flashin' down the long dirt road when they ask me to step out They say we be looking for illegal immigrants can we check your car I say you know it's funny I think we were on the same boat back in 1694 Indigo Girls ---------------------------------------- --------------------------------GOD with honour hang your head,Groom, and grace you, bride, your bedWith lissome scions, sweet scions,Out of hallowed bodies bred. Each be other's comfort kind:Déep, déeper than divined,Divine charity, dear charity,Fast you ever, fast bind. Then let the March tread our ears:I to him turn with tearsWho to wedlock, his wonder wedlock,Déals tríumph and immortal years. wedding poems : -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- Now offering spam-free web-based newsreadingI am not saying this to be mean, but no one is going to remember thepoem you read at your wedding. Not unless it is a poem YOU write. Then, even if it is not that good, you will probably remember, and yourhusband may remember, and your parents will probably be happy and overlyimpressed by it.Although I think we should get to be like the Japanese, poemseverywhere, don't waste time looking for the perfect poem anywhere butinside you. Now start writing. We love the things we love for what they are. -Robert Frost, 'HylaBrook'Miss, unless your wedding will be held in a coffee shop, you'd do well not to read your own poetry. It's tacky. If you must have your stuff uttered at the ceremony, have someone else do it, remembering that if it happens to be bad then the little heartfelt recital will be remembered with rolled eyes and supressed smiles.Instead, have a trusted friend surprise you at the reception with something short and cool that will very briefly pull attention away from the bride and groom (You'll appreciate the break unless you're Bette Midler.) and into the words. I have beenpondering for the past three months and have been to intent on the idea for meto create anything worth while. Please if anyone can help.........From: ()Subject: WEDDING POEMS Newsgroups: Date: 1995/11/17 Someone was asking for some Wedding poems some time ago - could I have some, please?Just e-mail them instead of posting them...Much appreciated!!I am not a regular to this newsgroup - but was wondering if you might beable to help me.My best friend has asked me to do a reading at her wedding and would like itto be a poem. Ideally it would be something to reflect "their story" - metat 15 as childhood sweethearts, split up as family moved abroad- kept intouch over years - though went separate directions, recently met up and aremadly in love!Has anyone got any ideas of something suitable or could they point me in theright direction. wedding poems : my sweet baboon and i are getting married at the end of april. since neither of us follow any kind of organized religion, we're making up the ceremony as we go along. i'd really like to include a poem in the ceremony. now, which one? if i manage to write one i think is worthy by then, i'll be lucky. but barring that, do any of you have suggestions? any of your own, if you'd consent? i've poured through book upon book and haven't found that special one. thanks for your ideas! You might want to take a look at the Shakespeare sonnet that begins "Letnot the marriage of true minds admit impediment" Excerpts from netnews.rec.arts.poems: 10-Mar-97 Wedding poems, anyone?by barbara This may be a little off-topic, but my husband and I faced a similarpredicament last June. Our solution was to write our own vows, andlight a lot of candles (it's a great way to kill time if you have ashort ceremony). If you are poetically inclined (as you must be ifyou've been trying to compose a verse for this wedding), and you don'tmind baring your soul a bit in front of a crowd, writing your ownheartfelt vows can be a great way to replace the traditional"love, honor, obey" stuff, and at the same time add a little poetry andextra romance. If your future spouse is not so good with words, you canalways put your heads together to create an eloquent exchange of vows. This kind of romantic brainstorming is also an excellent way to ease thestress of the impending "big day", and remind yourselves why you'regoing through with it in the first place :) If you are determined to find an appropriate poem to read, I wishyou much luck. During my quest for the perfect ceremony, I found morecutesy, sappy, or at the other extreme, depressing ("love-you-til-I-die"kindof stuff) poems than I ever want to see again. Hopefully you'llhave better luck. Cheers!
